Jan. 25- Jack Cooper is speaking on  Employment Risks and Your Nonprofit: Hot Topics for 2008 at a risk management conference that JBL&K is hosting in Portland.

 

Jan. 31 -Tamsen Leachman will participate in a webinar titled The "Fight or Flee" Cost/Benefit Issues you Confront in Resolving Employee Claims Against Your Employer sponsored by Council on Education in Management.

 

Feb. 20-Dunn Carney’s Employment and Labor Law Group will host a Employment and Labor Law Check up at the Multnomah Athletic Club.  Jack Cooper, Tamsen Leachman, Renee Stineman and Bob Allen will present.

 

Feb. 25-27 Tim Bernasek will speak on Farm Labor Issues at the Oregon Dairy Farmers Convention in Sunriver.

 

March 14- Susan Glen spoke at the Oregon Chapter of Community Associations Institute meeting on Developer Transition Issues.  She was on a panel that included developer John Carroll, Cheryl Brendle of Community Management Inc., and Frank Elsasser of Levin & Stein.


March 19-Ken Antell spoke on Misrepresentation and Breach of Fiduciary Duty Claims Against Oregon and Washington Real Estate Licensees at Norris & Stevens.

 

March 21- Bill Joseph will give a legislative update relative to Construction Laws to the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and the Washington Association of Defense Counsel (OADC/WADC).

July 24-Tamsen Leachman and Kelly Martin will speak at an Employment Law Update seminar sponsored by Sterling Education Services.  Kelly’s topic will be Stay Out of Jail: Immigration Compliance Issues and Tamsen’s are Wage & Hour /FLSA and Sexual, Racial, and Other Harassment.

 

Aug. 14- Elizabeth Knight spoke at the Oregon Women Lawyers Leg Up event on juggling work and family.

 

Brian Talcott and Eric Kekel are speaking on August 26 at the IIABO (Insurance Agents and Brokers of Oregon) Convention.

 

Aug. 27- Ken Antell spoke at Norris & Stevens about "What Oregon Brokers are Required to Keep in their Transaction Files."

 

Sept. 9- David Zehntbauer will speak at Lorman Seminar on "Law of Easements: Legal Issues and Practical Considerations in OR.”

 

Sept. 18- Melissa Busley is speaking at a Pearls of Wisdom seminar addressing financial strategies for women. This event is sponsored by Legacy Emanuel Hospital and Mass Mutual Financial Group.

 

Sept. 26-Tamsen Leachman will speak at a seminar titled "Employee Discipline and Discharge: How to Avoid Employment Litigation." This seminar will be held in Eugene, OR.

 

Oct. 7- Dunn Carney Ag Summit addressing Water issues, Alternative Energy Sources, Niche Marketing/Intellectual Property and Trademarks, Climate Change Legislation, Succession Planning and Estate Planning.  Speakers include Elizabeth Howard, Tim Bernasek, Merrill Baumann, Kate Moore, Marsha Murray-Lusby and JoDee Keegan.

November 6 and 7- Elizabeth Howard will speak at the 17th annual Oregon Water Law Conference at the Red Lion Hotel in the Portland-Convention Center. Nov. 6-Brian Cable will speak on a panel (consisting of 3 lawyers) to new members to the Oregon State Bar at the Learning the Ropes CLE. They will talk about the practice of law in Oregon and give advice on how to succeed in private practice.    Heather Guthrie is also speaking on best practices in an estate planning practice.
